Music Therapy Center

Location

God's House Tower, Southampton

Following the RIBA sustainable outcome: Sustainable communities and social values, and the Southampton city centre plan of “A good place to live”, the design aims to create a safe communal space for kids, teenagers and elderly people to tackle everyday and future issues like loneliness, depression, violence and antisocial behaviour through music therapy. The center called SouthSound Centre would integrated these contrasting generations into one space where: kids can learn new music skills and hobbies to keep them out of the streets in the future, teenagers would be able to get help through music therapy sessions tackling violence and antisocial behaviour and for the seniors, the place would hold music lessons and related activities that would help them with improving cognitive performance, loneliness, depression and isolation.
